Quick read
Desert Protectors are powerful seasonal combat units with threshold bonuses, but they are consumable. Build the Field efficiently, collect Horns and save Protectors for objectives that justify the loss.

Protector war loadout and replenishment
- Members: bring Protectors to objectives where their loss creates real value—CR-gated territory, Goldust structures, Trade/Capitol work and major seasonal combat—not routine targets that normal troops can handle.
- Clearers vs durability teams: squad power/CR is used to clear guards and garrisons; after a structure is exposed, durability/siege roles can become the bottleneck. Do not assume the strongest PvP squad is automatically the best structure-damage assignment.
- Threshold planning: if the plan depends on a 500 / 750 / 1,000 / 1,250 Protector skill threshold, keep enough stationed Protectors to preserve that threshold before committing losses.
- Replenishment owner: assign an officer/member to track Horn claims, conversion-pool help, Field capacity and the next war window so the alliance knows when depleted Protector teams are actually ready again.
Facts
- Each Protector Horn directly adds one Protector.
- Current Season 3 sources consistently document 10% of eligible losses entering the Protector conversion pool; keep the live event/skill wording authoritative if your server differs.
- Allies can help convert up to 3 Protectors; Double Conversion raises that to 6.
- Current threshold counts are 500, 750, 1,000 and 1,250 Protectors.
BlackBar Gaming recommends
- Use Protectors for important Strongholds, Goldust warfare, Trade/Capitol objectives and major Sandworm encounters rather than routine kills.
- Keep enough capacity and conversion support ready before war windows.
Watch out
- Protectors committed to battle can be consumed; do not treat them like ordinary troops that simply return after every fight.
- The current conversion-help values supersede older guides that say 1 / 2.
Season 3 patch-history clarification
A later Season 3 notice shortens Blue Flame Spell from 60 to 30 minutes. The older one-hour skill description remains bundled; use the later notice and verify the live skill panel.
Death Shockwave applies only in PvP, not against monsters. If both sides fall to it in a Protector rally, the defender wins. A later notice distributes its soldier damage among remaining enemy heroes.
These notes are preserved in the client, not proof that every server has enabled the same rules. Your live event and skill panels take precedence.

Detailed guide
Thresholds
| Stationed Protectors | Unlock |
|---|---|
| 500 | Power of Adaptation |
| 750 | Death Shockwave |
| 1,000 | Blue Flame Spell |
| 1,250 | Protector Rally |
Protector Rally
Protector Rally uses a 1-minute preparation, 3× march speed and passes the rally leader's relevant Protector buffs to participating Protector squads. Use the live skill panel if the displayed wording changes.
How the conversion pool fills
Current Season 3 documentation repeatedly identifies three major inputs: eligible Alliance Duel / Duel VS casualties, severely wounded units that cannot enter a full Hospital, and Drill Ground breach casualties. Recon Plane assistance then converts eligible pool entries into Protectors stored in the Protector's Field.
Threshold effects — what matters operationally
| Count | Skill | Operational use |
|---|---|---|
| 500 | Power of Adaptation | Protector combat / Curse Resistance benefit; use the live tooltip for the current numeric value. |
| 750 | Death Shockwave | Adds a PvP defeat-triggered Protector effect. |
| 1,000 | Blue Flame Spell | Winning a base attack can apply the Season 3 blue-flame effect. |
| 1,250 | Protector Rally | Unlocks the Protector-specific rally mechanic. |
Storage and spending rule
Protector's Field storage is not lost merely because your base is breached. The real loss risk is committing Protectors to combat, so decide by objective value rather than by fear of holding them.
