SEASON 1 · CORE PROGRESSION

Virus Research Institute

VRI progression, Virus Resistance and the guarded maximum-value conflict.

ScopeModern Serum rollout

Quick read

VRI converts Immune Protein into Virus Resistance, which is the key PvE gate for infected seasonal content.

Facts

  • The target modern deployment was firsthand-observed at VRI Lv30 = 10,250 Resistance.
  • Widely circulated datasets show 10,000, possibly with a separate +250 source.

BlackBar Gaming recommends

  • Use the live VRI display as final authority.
  • Upgrade VRI early enough that Resistance does not become the account’s main seasonal bottleneck.

Watch out

  • Do not treat 10,000 or 10,250 as universal across every Season 1 rollout until the +250 source is isolated; use the live VRI display.
DETAILED GUIDE

How it works

Why VRI matters

The Virus Research Institute turns the Protein economy into Virus Resistance. In practical terms, VRI determines which seasonal enemies and defenders your squads can fight efficiently. A high-power squad can still underperform badly when its Resistance is below the target requirement.

Upgrade decision

If Resistance is blocking useful first-kills, Stronghold defenders or other seasonal PvE, VRI is normally a higher-value seasonal upgrade than spending the same resources on temporary displayed power. Keep Protein production and VRI progression synchronized so neither side of the loop sits idle.

Maximum-value guard

The exact Lv30 maximum remains rollout-sensitive in the retained evidence: the target Serum deployment was firsthand-confirmed at 10,250, while widely circulated datasets show 10,000 and may separate an additional +250 source. Use the value shown in your live VRI rather than treating either number as universal.
