The Protein/VRI/Resistance loop is available to every player and directly gates seasonal PvE progression.
Engineer generally offers stronger compounding development value for accounts still constrained by growth.
Black Market provides important post-season permanent progression opportunities, including maintained-current routes toward Exclusive Weapon activation items.

How it works

F2P priorities by phase

Early season: compound progression

Keep the Protein → VRI → Resistance loop moving and use stamina where it unlocks new seasonal progression. Engineer is usually the stronger default while construction, research and economy remain real account bottlenecks.

Mid season: specialize

Do not level all three temporary Military Bases evenly. Put seasonal resources into the troop type your real main squad uses. Let higher-Resistance alliance members lead difficult rallies so your own resource gap does not become an access gap.

War phase: spend for a purpose

Save teleports, shields, troops and recovery capacity for scheduled objectives rather than random fighting. If your alliance is not realistically competing in a system, do not spend permanent account resources trying to imitate a whale’s temporary-season power curve.

Late season: convert temporary effort into permanent value

Finish useful profession goals, stop chasing low-value temporary power, and enter the Black Market with a permanent-progression priority. Claim the free item, preserve refreshes when the current shop is weak, and compare rare permanent items against generic resource purchases.
