🟦 Facts
- Attackers win Rare Soil War only by destroying the defending Alliance Furnace before the battle timer expires.
- The Alliance Furnace cannot be relocated once the Prep Stage begins, so defensive positioning must be decided before that lock.
- A successful Warlord Nuclear Missile creates a 25×25 Contaminated Land area, forcibly relocates bases in the affected area, and damages the Alliance Furnace.
- The event targeting preview is the screen to follow for the actual affected tiles on your server.
🧭 Furnace Positioning & Defense visual guide

Before choosing a location, imagine the likely 25×25 missile area over the Furnace. The strongest location is the one that leaves attackers the fewest useful places to establish close positions after disruption while preserving enough room for your own defenders to regroup.

🗻 Edge + major obstacle
Can be a top option when the map boundary and a large mountain, lake, or other blocked terrain genuinely remove useful approach and landing space.
Why it works
Fewer useful approach directions; part of the area around the Furnace is unavailable for base placement; defenders can concentrate on the remaining lanes.
Check first
Make sure the obstacle really blocks base placement and that a nearby City, Dig Site, Stronghold, or open plot does not give attackers a convenient close position.
📐 Corner defense
Two map boundaries remove approach space and can make the hive easier to layer.
Check first
A missile can still open usable space in front of the Furnace. Corner and edge + obstacle are both top candidates; choose whichever leaves attackers fewer useful positions after disruption.
🎯 Open field
Attackers can pressure from more directions, and the missile has the largest amount of surrounding usable terrain.
Use only when
Relocation timing, alliance coordination, or local map constraints make a protected edge or corner location impractical.
🏙️ Multi-alliance mega-hive
Extra bodies can add depth, but several alliances sharing one compact defense also concentrate disruption and can make gaps harder to control.
Use only with
Clear server leadership, assigned sectors, replacement-base discipline, and a plan for missile recovery.
Pick candidates before Prep. Compare a protected corner with edge + obstacle locations before the Furnace becomes locked.
Think in a 25×25 disruption box. Judge how much useful terrain remains after a likely missile, not how full the hive looks before it.
Inspect nearby landing and staging opportunities. Avoid layouts where a City, Dig Site, Stronghold, open plot, wide unobstructed lane, or a neighboring alliance hive gives attackers a convenient close staging area.
Protect your response force. Do not place every strongest active player in the likely missile core; keep immediate counterattack power around the outer response layer.
Plan gap control. Keep reliable replacement bases ready to fill spaces when members leave, are displaced, or must reposition.
Re-check the live map. Confirm the actual terrain, Furnace range, event timer, and missile targeting preview before locking the final location.
🟩 BlackBar Gaming recommends
- Top options: edge + major blocked terrain OR a protected corner. Choose whichever leaves attackers fewer useful post-missile positions; avoid open field when possible. BlackBar Gaming ranks the actual geometry, not the layout name.
- Keep a response layer of active heavy hitters near the perimeter instead of putting every strongest account inside the likely strike area.
- Keep a few reliable replacement bases available to plug vacated positions; a strong layout weakens quickly when holes are left open.
- Check neighboring alliance hives before locking the Furnace. A nearby friendly hive can unintentionally become useful enemy staging space if its geometry leaves convenient positions close to your defense.
- Treat a multi-alliance mega-hive as a coordinated server tactic, not an automatic upgrade over a well-built single-alliance defense.
🟥 Warning
- Terrain interaction and the best exact tile are not exposed as one in-game formula. Mountain, edge, and corner effectiveness are terrain-dependent strategy, so BlackBar Gaming does not present one coordinate as guaranteed.
- BlackBar Gaming intentionally does not prescribe universal 1- or 2-tile base spacing here. Community layouts conflict, and a bad gap can become an enemy landing opportunity; check exact spacing on the live map.
- Do not wait until Preparation to decide whether to move the Furnace. Current rules forbid Furnace relocation once the Prep Stage begins.
